About the Author

Meet Heather McBriarty:

Heather fell in love with books very early in her life and began writing her own stories not long after. History has long fascinated her. But both took a back seat for many years, as her career in health care and life as a mother took over. Fast forward to 2018, when the discovery of love letters to her grandmother reignited the desire to write a book, resulting in her first publication, the non-fiction account of the First World War, Somewhere in Flanders: Letters from the Front. Heather now regularly delivers lectures on the war, a period of history that has become a passion. Heather also reviews for The Miramichi Reader and served as a juror for the 2023 Atlantic Book Awards. She is working on her next novel in between writing short stories.

By day, she is a Medical Radiation Technologist, doting grandmother, and avid sailor. She lives by the sea in historic Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
